Facility HF Communications technician / specialist

Provide fixed site installation and maintenance support, including installation, test and exercise of radio systems and protective measures (Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP), lightning, power surges/sags, electrical

noise etc.); troubleshooting and repairing operational and technical problems with communications systems.  Develop and supervise or execute preventative maintenance program.

Operate telecommunications equipment, including but not limited to LF, MF, HF, LMR, Satellite, Wi-Fi, microwave, telephone (PBX etc.); IP switches, routers etc.; conducting communications using a variety of

modes (voice, video, and data), including maintaining the station log and recording and delivering message traffic; configuring operating parameters, adjusting, troubleshooting, and repairing telecommunications

equipment including transceivers, antenna tuners,  preamplifiers, amplifiers, power supplies, interfaces, antenna rotators and their controllers, ancillary equipment; antennas and feedlines, switches and routers etc.

Desired: A BS degree in engineering -or- A.S. Electrical Engineering or A.S. Electrical Engineering Technology AND four years of experience with commercial or military HF communications systems including

installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operating. Ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance.  Strong understanding of HF equipment, installation, operation and networking.  Possess (or

obtain within 6 months) Amateur Radio General Class or Amateur Extra Class license issued by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission and a Project Manager’s General Radiotelephone Operator License

issued by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission.  User familiarity with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project. Must be willing to deploy to CONUS locations in an emergency.  With essentially equal

qualifications, preference for Veteran and Service Disabled Veteran.

Desired: Current or recent SCI a strong plus.   Knowledge of Continuity / Resilient comms.

This is a full time “key” position.  Understanding of electromagnetic interference, including Electromagnetic Pulse countermeasures.  Eagle Horizon will arrange training for FCC license. 

Location: Arlington, Virginia.   Some travel to locations in the Washington DC area.

Sr Network Engineer
Seeking a Sr Network Engineer to support the DOD CIO within the Pentagon. The candidate shall support technical review of DOD initiatives in network architecture, with specific focus on Cyber Defenses and information protection. This technical master will also support policy formulation among senior DOD stakeholders. Candidate will maintain a complex range of computer network components and systems. RESPONSIBILTIES: - Candidate will identify, assess, and develop detailed requirements from the customer for upgrading networks as well as re-architecting network segments in order to facilitate new requirements, technologies    and growth. - He/she will provide client consulting and training on the use of the network capabilities. - Candidate will assist in planning and leading computer network initiatives. - He/she will research, evaluate, and recommend new computer network equipment and technologies as well as providing technical solutions that can be used to create compliance policies/memos. - Solutions for remote and local security devices to include but not limited to HBSS, Firewalls, and Logging Solution's. - Working knowledge of network architecture frameworks in the following areas: SONET, BSLR, Optical MPLS, and OSP-F. - Network disciplines in the SDH/DWDM/OTN and OSI stack environments. - He/she will act as the Enterprise Manager and its functionality. - Candidate will oversee the management of VPN Gateways for deploying remote users. - Candidate will utilize data at hand to make expert decisions and recommendations on how to resolve, improve, or prevent security device outages/problems/issues. - HBSS and DISA-sponsored configuration management. - Ability to offer technical assessment of new security devices and their implementations EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent and 12 to 15 years of relevant experience are required.
